Sustainable and respectful travelling with Geotoura
Travelling more sustainably can start with small things. For example, with good preparation, choosing the time to travel or with environmentally conscious behaviour in the destination. Every small step can make a difference. At Geotoura, sustainability primarily means getting to know the country and culture in a conscious and respectful way. Without the hustle and bustle and off the beaten track. But it also means particularly authentic experiences, typical local, mostly privately run accommodation and regional cuisine. In this article, you can find out more about what makes our trips special and how we combine travelling and sustainability.
Cooperation with local suppliers and small local businesses
When planning our customised round trips, we work with selected agencies, typical local accommodation and local providers as much as possible. This enables us to offer our guests particularly authentic experiences and at the same time support local hosts and businesses. Furthermore, personal contact and dialogue with our partners in the various destination countries is very important to us.
Small, charming accommodations
We select our accommodation very carefully. Whether boutique hotel, agriturismo, quinta or B&B: typical local charm, a personal atmosphere and regional cuisine with the use of local produce are criteria that are particularly important to us. We also work for the most part with privately run, traditional accommodation with which we have long-standing partnerships.
Off the beaten track and off the main tourist routes
In addition to the well-known cities and sights, our routes also take you to very unspoilt and quiet regions. We also prefer to organise round trips for our guests in the low season. The country and its people can be experienced even more intensively and authentically at quieter times of the year – which is exactly what we want to achieve with our Geotoura round trips. By spreading our tours out in terms of space and time, we can also take the pressure off our destination countries, especially the regions that are heavily frequented by tourists, and thus make a contribution to sustainable tourism.
Our contribution to nature conservation
We select our local partners for our nature experiences very carefully. Animal and environmental protection are our top priority. For example, you can go on respectful whale watching tours with our partner organisation Firmm Tarifa or go on hiking tours through national parks with trained rangers and learn all about the local flora and fauna.
Avoid going by plane with our self-driving option
Most of our destinations can also be reached by car, so a flight is not absolutely necessary. We will put together a personalised self-drive trip for you and advise you on the best route. This gives you complete flexibility and the journey starts right on your doorstep. However, you don’t have to miss out on sunny Mediterranean destinations, even if you don’t want the journey to be too long. Take a look at our self-driving round trips and get inspired.
Corporate Social Responsibility
We have been awarded the CSR seal by the TourCert organisation. This symbolises sustainable, economic, ecological and social development in tourism. Environmental awareness not only plays an important role in our tours, but also in our day-to-day business. You can find out more about this on our about us page .
