Geotoura – Hotel concept
When we include a hotel in our programme, it is not only a high standard of quality that is important to us. We prefer typical local accommodation, often boutique hotels with a special ambience. They emphasise the character of an individual trip: Panoramic views, particularly lovely furnishings, a location in historic centres, no mass tourism and, of course, exceptionally friendly hosts – these are important criteria for us.
We divide our hotels into four separate Geotoura categories. Of course, you have the choice and can also combine the categories on one trip.
Boutique Hotels – Four categories
Encantador (“Charming”): Our most affordable option. Lovingly furnished rooms that offer everything the discerning traveller expects.
Especial (“Special”): Hotels with a special ambience – historic palaces, monasteries, haciendas or beach hotels with exceptional charm. Perfect for the classic cultural tour.
Extraordinario (“Extraordinary”): Luxurious hotels in excellent locations and with the highest level of comfort, often in centuries-old aristocratic palaces, old oil mills or haciendas.
Luna de Miel (“honeymoon”): For the honeymoon – span. Luna de miel – or if you want to treat yourself to something out of the ordinary …
Character of this travel idea
Experience culture
The old towns of Croatia have many stories to tell. For example, you can listen to the events of Roman times as you walk through the impressive Diocletian’s Palace. Here you will stand on the site where the bustling, cosmopolitan city of Split once arose and where many scenes from the cult series “Games of Thrones” were filmed.
The four city gates offer a glimpse behind the scenes of the city’s social order. The city’s history is also written by the Dubrovnik wall and the three fortresses, which seem to have fallen out of time.
How deeply you look into the maw of time is up to you during the 11 days of your individual tour along the Adriatic. So you have all the time in the world to discover Croatia’s past.
Experience nature
Croatia is famous for its dream beaches. On Brač alone, you can find your own little piece of paradise by the sea over a distance of 170 kilometres. The undisputed highlight for bathing and nature lovers on this 11-day round trip along the Adriatic is Zlanti Rat, which is surrounded by forest and sea and whose fine sand slopes gently into the turquoise blue sea. The Makarska Riviera is also known as a bathing paradise.
However, it is not far from the beautiful beaches to the Bikovo Nature Park with its rough, barren mountains, whose slopes are speckled with the defiant green of individual trees and resistant patches of meadow. In between, cave entrances and grottos in the karst rock yawn invitingly, inviting you to explore.
Croatia culinary treasures
No question: Croatian cuisine is meat-heavy and not very delicate. Rustic, traditional recipes still characterise the everyday lives of many families and restaurant menus. Meat, vegetables, potatoes, olive oil and herbs are on the menu. Only on the coast are fish and seafood common. Sounds a bit too simple? But it tastes great.
Croatians particularly love dishes from the peka: the ingredients simmer for several hours in this cast-iron pot. Take a look at the lid and let yourself be seduced by the aroma – and the butter-tender meat.
The authentic Croatia
The Makarska Riviera is not only a dream destination for holidaymakers because of its beaches. On this 60-kilometre stretch of the Adriatic, you will also search in vain for high-rise hotels and large tourist metropolises. Here you will stay in cosy, small boutique hotels and stroll through picturesque places such as the almost 2,000-year-old Brela.
You can also get a unique view of the area in Bikovo Nature Park. Wind your way up the adventurous road into the mountains in a rental car, and you will be rewarded with a breathtaking view from the skywalk halfway up. But be careful: breathtaking can be taken literally here, when you are suspended over the abyss, supported only by glass.
