Geotoura – Hotel concept
When we include a hotel in our programme, it is not only a high standard of quality that is important to us. We prefer typical local accommodation, often boutique hotels with a special ambience. They emphasise the character of an individual trip: Panoramic views, particularly lovely furnishings, a location in historic centres, no mass tourism and, of course, exceptionally friendly hosts – these are important criteria for us.
We divide our hotels into four separate Geotoura categories. Of course, you have the choice and can also combine the categories on one trip.
Boutique Hotels – Four categories
Encantador (“Charming”): Our most affordable option. Lovingly furnished rooms that offer everything the discerning traveller expects.
Especial (“Special”): Hotels with a special ambience – historic palaces, monasteries, haciendas or beach hotels with exceptional charm. Perfect for the classic cultural tour.
Extraordinario (“Extraordinary”): Luxurious hotels in excellent locations and with the highest level of comfort, often in centuries-old aristocratic palaces, old oil mills or haciendas.
Luna de Miel (“honeymoon”): For the honeymoon – span. Luna de miel – or if you want to treat yourself to something out of the ordinary …
Character of this travel idea
Experience culture
The historic heart of Zadar, Narodni Trg, will enchant you as soon as you arrive with its historical ensemble ranging from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance. Take a seat in one of the cafés under the watchful clock face of the clock tower and enjoy the hustle and bustle of the historic square.
A modern fascination awaits you by the sea: the Sea Organ. On this experimental musical instrument penned by Nikola Bašić, the sea plays wonderful melodies and draws locals and visitors alike to the white steps by the sea.
Dubrovnik will impress you with its fortresses and fortified city walls. The mighty walls were the backdrop for major events in Croatian history – and the wonderful setting for many a scene from the cult series “Game of Thrones”. So leave the hire car behind and explore these monuments of the past and present on foot.
Experience nature
Every Croatian island has its own unique character. On Korčula, the scent of eucalyptus, pine and lavender envelops you as you wander through a landscape of bizarre rocks and caves, palm trees and green slopes.
On Vis, small bays nestled in impressive cliffs and a rugged Mediterranean landscape await you, where you will discover the remains of an ancient settlement, among other things.
On the beautiful, green island of Mljet, you arrive in the middle of the Odyssey. The nymph Calypso is said to have once lived here and held Odysseus captive for seven years. During your cruise, you will experience more than just picturesque beaches and the murmur of the waves luring you into the cooling waters.
Croatia culinary treasures
No question: Croatian cuisine is meat-heavy and not very delicate. Rustic, traditional recipes still characterise the everyday lives of many families and restaurant menus. Meat, vegetables, potatoes, olive oil and herbs are on the menu. Only on the coast are fish and seafood common. Sounds a bit too simple? But it tastes great.
Croatians particularly love dishes from the peka: the ingredients simmer for several hours in this cast-iron pot. Take a look at the lid and let yourself be seduced by the aroma – and the butter-tender meat.
The authentic Croatia
Discover the time-honoured royal city of Nin, not far from Zadar, and with it the secret of salt production in the old way. The white gold has made the town rich. Explore the prosperity of the past on your own personal tour through this centre of history.
Would you rather immerse yourself in Croatia’s culinary delights? Then park your hire car near Split and embark on a scenic and culinary adventure, strolling through ancient vineyards and tasting the excellent Zinfandel wines, about which the winemaker is guaranteed to tell you a secret or two.
