When I walk along here, I can literally visualise David Copperfield, whose home Dickens made Canterbury. Continue along the river to the Monasteries of the Dominicans and Franciscans – beautifully preserved 13th century buildings whose sublime dignity still impresses me deeply today. Further inland, things become mystical and shrouded in legend. It is not only the most famous monolithic circle in the world – Stonehenge – that still makes us believe in magic today. Southern England's culinary delights

You are sure to come across a delicacy in Cornwall’s fishing harbours: baskets full of lobster give you an idea that the crustacean is native to the coast of south-west England. Grilled or boiled, you will find it on the menus of numerous restaurants.
