Southern England 2024 & 2025
“For me, the charm of England’s south lies above all in its medieval towns. This is postcard England at home. My favourite town is Canterbury with its majestic cathedral. I love the winding streets, which always lead me to well-known and less well-known, but no less beautiful buildings and squares, such as the historic weavers’ houses. When I walk along here, I can literally visualise David Copperfield, whose home Dickens made Canterbury. Continue along the river to the Monasteries of the Dominicans and Franciscans – beautifully preserved 13th century buildings whose sublime dignity still impresses me deeply today. Like me, discover the beauty of Canterbury and many other places on your tour of Southern England!
Of course, your Southern England round trip can also start right on your doorstep. When travelling by your own car, we also plan and organise the route and accommodation for your individual trip through the transit countries according to your wishes.

Discover Southern England
Cultural Southern England
Discover the romantic south of England in enchanted castles and gardens such as the Gardens of Great Dixter Manor and in the lush grounds around Sissinghurst Castle. But you will also find it in small harbour villages, of which the south-westernmost tip of England is almost teeming. In places like Lyme Regis or Port Isaac, strolling through the narrow streets will take you back to the days of the sailors. But you will also feel the unique charm of southern England in the modern seaside resorts of Brighton and Bournemouth with their historic piers and gardens.
A paradise for walkers is the Cotswolds Way, which takes you through picturesque countryside, past sleepy villages and many historical sites down to the university and spa town of Bath, which will enchant you with its buildings made from the striking Bath Stone. Things get urban and royal during your round trip through southern England in the world metropolis of London. Whether following in the footsteps of kings and queens or exploring hidden galleries in the scene district of Shoreditch – London will cast a spell over you.
Experience nature in southern England
The wild nature rises majestically from the sea along the 150 kilometres of the Jurassic Coast. The best way to explore this UNESCO World Heritage Site is on the South West Coast Path, which takes you along the entire south-west coast over steep cliffs and past hidden beaches.
Further inland, things become mystical and shrouded in legend. It is not only the most famous monolithic circle in the world – Stonehenge – that still makes us believe in magic today. You can also discover enchanted places on your hire car tour of southern England in Bodmin Moor or in Dartmoor National Park with its fields shrouded in mist and bizarre stone formations that seem to be from another world.
Southern England's culinary delights
The classic fish n’ chips are still a culinary must during any visit to England. They are available with different types of fish. However, cod is most commonly used for the breaded fish morsel. The most authentic way to enjoy this dish is in a cosy pub and in combination with an ale from a small local brewery. The same goes for afternoon tea with scones, strawberry jam and clotted cream, which the English usually have between 4 and 5 pm.
But there are still some specialities waiting in the south of England that will delight real gourmets. You are sure to come across a delicacy in Cornwall’s fishing harbours: baskets full of lobster give you an idea that the crustacean is native to the coast of south-west England. Grilled or boiled, you will find it on the menus of numerous restaurants.
