When we include a hotel in our programme, it is not only a high standard of quality that is important to us. We prefer typical local accommodation, often boutique hotels with a special ambience. They emphasise the character of an individual trip: Panoramic views, particularly lovely furnishings, a location in historic centres, no mass tourism and, of course, exceptionally friendly hosts – these are important criteria for us.
We divide our hotels into four separate Geotoura categories. Of course, you have the choice and can also combine the categories on one trip.
Boutique Hotels – Four categories
Encantador (“Charming”): Our most affordable option. Lovingly furnished rooms that offer everything the discerning traveller expects.
Especial (“Special”): Hotels with a special ambience – historic palaces, monasteries, haciendas or beach hotels with exceptional charm. Perfect for the classic cultural tour.
Extraordinario (“Extraordinary”): Luxurious hotels in excellent locations and with the highest level of comfort, often in centuries-old aristocratic palaces, old oil mills or haciendas.

They often seem to be floating on clouds: the fascinating monasteries of Metéora. The name of this landscape means “raised on high” – and that is exactly what these fascinating monasteries are. Sometimes they sit on a pillar of rock, where it is not immediately clear how the monks reached the monastery, let alone how they were able to build it at such a dizzying height.
Enter this magical realm on the 14-day round trip through northern Greece and discover the monasteries, some of which have been perched on the rocks here since the 14th century. Thessaloniki is a great and exciting contrast to this solitude in the mountains. This Greek answer to the cosmopolitan city of Paris is more than 2,300 years old and you can still discover every era in its streets today.
Experience nature
Why not visit the gods on Mount Olympus on this 14-day round trip through northern Greece? The impressive mountain is not considered their home for nothing. Mysterious peaks shrouded in mist, dense forests, deep gorges, … In the middle of this spectacular landscape lies the seat of Zeus, the father of the gods.
You should take your hire car into the mountains somewhere else – namely to visit Zagori. This network of tiny mountain villages welcomes you to a wild mountain landscape with countless bridges over small streams and rivers that still connect the villages today and ancient footpaths that lead through this dreamlike landscape.
Northern Greece – delicious variety
A great trip also includes getting to know the country’s typical dishes. Northern Greece has a lot to offer. Freshly caught fish is not only available on the coast, but also at Lake Pamvotida: if you enjoy a great view, it tastes even better. Do you love game and stews, accompanied by aromatic herbs and fresh wild mushrooms? Then our round trips through the interior of northern Greece are just the thing for you. Meatless but very filling and extremely delicious are the pies filled with wild herbs and cheese or vegetables.
The influence of Asia Minor can be felt and tasted in Macedonian cuisine, as shown by the revani, a semolina cake dipped in syrup. Imam bayildi, stuffed aubergines, and lachanopita, a puff pastry cake often filled with spinach, are in the same tradition. Do you think a good meal should be accompanied by a good wine? That’s no problem in northern Greece either, as grapes are not only made into good wines in Naoussa, but also in Chalkidiki, Drama and Amyntaio.
