Geotoura - Hotel concept
When we include a hotel in our programme, it is not only a high standard of quality that is important to us. We prefer typical local accommodation, often boutique hotels with a special ambience. They emphasise the character of an individual trip: Panoramic views, particularly lovely furnishings, location in historic centres, no mass tourism and, of course, exceptionally friendly hosts – these are important criteria for us.
We categorise our accommodation in the British Isles into four separate Geotoura categories. Of course, you have the choice and can also combine the categories on one trip.
Boutique Hotels - Four categories
Encantador (‘Charming’): Privately run bed & breakfast guesthouses with a small number of cosy rooms and a lovingly prepared breakfast.
Especial (‘Special’): Enjoy stylish interiors and comfort in the mostly family-run boutique hotels with historic charm. Stay in the city centre or in beautiful natural surroundings.
Extraordinario (‘Extraordinary’): Centuries-old buildings, such as historic manor houses or castles, sometimes also modern design hotels with special architecture. Usually equipped with a restaurant, bar or spa area.
Luna de Miel (‘honeymoon’): For your honeymoon – or if you want to treat yourself to something out of the ordinary …
Character of this travel idea
Experience culture
You start your round trip in Dublin, the cultural heart of Ireland. Here you’ll be creeped out in Kilmainham Gaol, breathe in the air of royalty in the magnificent chambers of Dublin Castle and feel a little like Harry Potter in the time-honoured walls of Trinity College with its magically beautiful library.
The journey continues in Ireland’s south-west via Kildare to Cork, where you will stroll past touching works of painting, printing, photography and sculpture on a different campus in the Lewis Glucksman Gallery. Travel back in time to an equally admirable artistry not far from Dublin as your journey takes you to the imposing prehistoric site of Newgrange.
Experience nature
Let yourself be transported to this world when you step out of your hire car in the Burren National Park on your round trip through Ireland’s south-west. The bizarre landscape of jagged, grey rock radiates a stillness and majesty of millions of years that you won’t find anywhere else in Ireland.
You’ll get a tingle in your stomach when you stand high up on the famous Cliffs of Moher and look out over the roaring ocean along the steep cliffs. Tully, on the other hand, is a fairytale. This is not only home to a horse lover’s dream, the Irish National Stud Farm.
Here you can also embark on a symbolic journey through the stages of life in a very special garden. So make sure you stop off at the stud’s Japanese garden on your individual journey and enjoy this wonder of garden art.
Ireland culinary treasures
Ireland’s cuisine is often seen in the tradition of poor people’s food. During your visit to Ireland, you will discover that this down-to-earth tradition can be very tasty and not at all poor. In addition to the famous Irish stew, it is mainly fish and seafood that has been tantalising the palate in recent times. Smoked wild salmon, oysters and lobster will win over even gourmets. Meat lovers can look forward to fine lamb and tender Angus beef. “Back to the roots, on the other hand, with soda bread, porridge, boxty, coddle and black pudding.
The authentic Ireland
A certain advert praises Irish butter as “the gold of the Emerald Isle”. In fact, it has a very long and interesting tradition in Ireland. You can find out how Irish butter made history and how it is still made today in the old way at the Cork Butter Museum on your tour of Ireland’s south-west.
Or would you prefer to discover the secrets of Irish craft beers? Then why not take a look over the shoulders of the brewers at the local Brewing Company in Killarney – before tasting the fresh brew, of course. Your journey takes you to an unmistakable piece of Ireland in Kilrush.
Here you will not only discover dolphins in artistic form in the tranquil village, but also from the boat, where the curious and playful marine mammals come almost close enough to touch.
