Geotoura - Hotel concept

When we include a hotel in our programme, it is not only a high standard of quality that is important to us. We prefer typical local accommodation, often boutique hotels with a special ambience. They emphasise the character of an individual trip: Panoramic views, particularly lovely furnishings, location in historic centres, no mass tourism and, of course, exceptionally friendly hosts – these are important criteria for us.

We categorise our accommodation in the British Isles into four separate Geotoura categories. Of course, you have the choice and can also combine the categories on one trip.

Boutique Hotels - Four categories

Encantador (‘Charming’): Privately run bed & breakfast guesthouses with a small number of cosy rooms and a lovingly prepared breakfast.

Especial (‘Special’): Enjoy stylish interiors and comfort in the mostly family-run boutique hotels with historic charm. Stay in the city centre or in beautiful natural surroundings.

Extraordinario (‘Extraordinary’): Centuries-old buildings, such as historic manor houses or castles, sometimes also modern design hotels with special architecture. Usually equipped with a restaurant, bar or spa area.

Luna de Miel (‘honeymoon’): For your honeymoon – or if you want to treat yourself to something out of the ordinary …

Character of this travel idea

The island’s capital cities are living and breathing history. They are part of the Irish people’s soul and have played a significant role in shaping today’s culture. On this 8-day trip from Dublin to Belfast, you will immerse yourself in this very soul and learn to understand it better.

Experience culture

Despite its size, Dublin seduces you with a very familiar, Irish charm. Follow in the footsteps of Ireland’s history of independence on the historic pavements and admire magnificent buildings such as St Patrick’s Cathedral and Trinity College.

On a closer look at the cathedral, you will discover many an anecdote from the past. The “door with a hole”, for example, tells the story of a quarrel between two noblemen in the 14th century. And for fans of “Gulliver’s Travels”, a door to the past opens up here when you look at the death mask of Jonathan Swift.

When you pick up this book and arrive in the Northern Irish capital by hire car on the 8-day trip to Dublin and Belfast, you will be opening the next chapter of exciting history right away. The city is characterised by its picturesque Victorian buildings, which form a striking contrast to the city’s modern skyscrapers. In the streets of the Shankhill and Falls neighbourhoods, the facades often become canvases from which large messages of freedom, war and peace look down on you.

Experience nature

Between the hustle and bustle of the capital cities, a picturesque landscape brings you back to the other, the quiet, green and wide Ireland. Make the most of this opportunity and take a left turn in your hire car in the Wicklow Mountains.

In return, you will be rewarded with a piece of picture-postcard Ireland. Gently rolling valleys, deep blue lakes, green mountain slopes and murmuring streams rushing between grey stones – these mountains are a quiet paradise. Just close your eyes here and let your mind wander for a moment …

Ireland culinary treasures

Ireland’s cuisine is often seen in the tradition of poor people’s food. During your visit to Ireland, you will discover that this down-to-earth tradition can be very tasty and not at all poor. In addition to the famous Irish stew, it is mainly fish and seafood that has been tantalising the palate in recent times. Smoked wild salmon, oysters and lobster will win over even gourmets. Meat lovers can look forward to fine lamb and tender Angus beef. “Back to the roots, on the other hand, with soda bread, porridge, boxty, coddle and black pudding.

The authentic Ireland

Dublin has many secrets. Some of them you will discover for yourself on closer inspection. Others you should have shown to you on an individual city tour. That way you’ll also get the insider tips that you can only learn from the locals who know the city like the back of their hand.

My wife and I celebrated our golden wedding anniversary during our trip to Ireland. Geotoura had organised for a bottle of prosecco, strawberries, cake and wine to be waiting for us in our hotel room. We were very pleased with this.

Ireland is worth a visit. You can see a stunning landscape and visit some excellently designed gardens, such as those at Lismore Castle. The people are friendly and helpful, and they are happy to make contact. It is a ‘young’ country. The pubs and the local culture alone are worth a visit. Dublin is a vibrant and very lively city that has a lot to offer: culture of all kinds, and above all many museums.
