Geotoura - Hotel concept
When we include a hotel in our programme, it is not only a high standard of quality that is important to us. We prefer typical local accommodation, often boutique hotels with a special ambience. They emphasise the character of an individual trip: Panoramic views, particularly lovely furnishings, location in historic centres, no mass tourism and, of course, exceptionally friendly hosts – these are important criteria for us.
We categorise our accommodation in the British Isles into four separate Geotoura categories. Of course, you have the choice and can also combine the categories on one trip.
Boutique Hotels - Four categories
Encantador (‘Charming’): Privately run bed & breakfast guesthouses with a small number of cosy rooms and a lovingly prepared breakfast.
Especial (‘Special’): Enjoy stylish interiors and comfort in the mostly family-run boutique hotels with historic charm. Stay in the city centre or in beautiful natural surroundings.
Extraordinario (‘Extraordinary’): Centuries-old buildings, such as historic manor houses or castles, sometimes also modern design hotels with special architecture. Usually equipped with a restaurant, bar or spa area.
Luna de Miel (‘honeymoon’): For your honeymoon – or if you want to treat yourself to something out of the ordinary …
Character of this travel idea
Experience culture
The Boyne Valley is steeped in history. Not only is the famous Newgrange World Heritage Site located here. No, here you also walk over the ground of the Battle of Boyne and come across enchanted castles such as the famous Trim Castle and mysterious monastery ruins. Finally, on the Hill of Tara, you will stand in the footsteps of the early Irish high kings and on a hill that was sacred to people even before the Irish.
In Dublin, you are spoilt for choice as to which of its big and small stories you want to explore first. Be amazed in the Trinity Collage Library or follow the curious story of the “Door with a Hole” at St Patrick’s Cathedral. “Tom and Jerry” can still be seen today in Christ Church, in whose organ they once died in an unusual way. In addition to the little stories, you can also follow big names such as Jonathan Swift, Oscar Wilde and Samuel Beckett at Trinity Collage. You can experience art and culture live and perhaps even take part in it on the street of street artists: Grafton Street.
Experience nature
Between historical gems and highlights, this 7-day round trip also takes you through green, wild and rugged Ireland – for example in the picturesque landscapes of the Wicklow Mountains with their gently rolling hills, picturesque valleys, clear lakes and murmuring streams. Here you hike through a piece of picture-postcard Ireland and leave modern and historical life outside for a moment.
Enter an enchanting masterpiece of man and nature in the Mount Usher Gardens. Created in 1868, they are one of the earliest and most beautiful examples of a Robinson garden. As if man had lent Mother Nature just a little of his hand, trees, shrubs and countless flowers form a colourful green fairytale where you can simply relax or unravel some of the secrets of its inhabitants.
Ireland culinary treasures
Ireland’s cuisine is often seen in the tradition of poor people’s food. During your visit to Ireland, you will discover that this down-to-earth tradition can be very tasty and not at all poor. In addition to the famous Irish stew, it is mainly fish and seafood that has been tantalising the palate in recent times. Smoked wild salmon, oysters and lobster will win over even gourmets. Meat lovers can look forward to fine lamb and tender Angus beef. “Back to the roots, on the other hand, with soda bread, porridge, boxty, coddle and black pudding.
