The living Bible

13 days Israel tour

Tel Aviv-Jaffa - Sea of Galilee - Jerusalem - Dead Sea - Tel Aviv-Jaffa

Your journey at a glance

Nowhere else can you get so close to so many places of the Bible in such a small space as in Israel. Here you can stand by the Sea of Galilee, where Jesus lived and where the miraculous multiplication of the loaves is said to have taken place. Follow in the footsteps of Peter in tiny Cafarnaum or follow Christ's Way of the Cross in Jerusalem. Suddenly the biblical stories are within your grasp. That alone gives you goosebumps. And then there is the landscape in which these sites are located. The silence of the Negev Desert, the bizarre shapes on the shores of the Dead Sea, the vibrant life of En Gedi in the middle of the desert... Out here, Israel is still a land of wonders - wonders that nature has created and that will also leave a deep impression on you.

Geotoura – Hotel concept

When we include a hotel in our programme, it is not only a high standard of quality that is important to us. We prefer typical local accommodation, often boutique hotels with a special ambience. They emphasise the character of an individual trip: Panoramic views, particularly lovely furnishings, a location in historic centres, no mass tourism and, of course, exceptionally friendly hosts – these are important criteria for us.

We divide our hotels into four separate Geotoura categories. Of course, you have the choice and can also combine the categories on one trip.

Boutique Hotels – Four categories

Encantador (“Charming”): Our most affordable option. Lovingly furnished rooms that offer everything the discerning traveller expects.

Especial (“Special”): Hotels with a special ambience – historic palaces, monasteries, haciendas or beach hotels with exceptional charm. Perfect for the classic cultural tour.

Extraordinario (“Extraordinary”): Luxurious hotels in excellent locations and with the highest level of comfort, often in centuries-old aristocratic palaces, old oil mills or haciendas.

Luna de Miel (“honeymoon”): For the honeymoon – span. Luna de miel – or if you want to treat yourself to something out of the ordinary …

Character of this travel idea

On this 13-day round trip, you will immerse yourself in Israel’s history and its long cultural traditions. Discover the great sites of the Bible and other holy books in breathtaking landscapes and savour an exciting and varied cuisine that reflects the country’s eventful history in a wonderful way.

The colourful culture of Israel

Immerse yourself in the vibrant life of Tel Aviv right at the start of your 13-day tour of Israel. Disappear into the hustle and bustle of its markets and bathe in the hustle and bustle, aromatic scents and vibrant colours that greet you here.

Things are more dignified in Akkon, where you can be fascinated by the Bahai Gardens. The sublime Hospitalite Fortress is also impressive, with its mighty walls and perfectly preserved buildings taking you back to the time of the Crusaders. You will also encounter another legendary order here: the Knights Templar. Go in search of traces in the Templar Quarter and immerse yourself in the almost 1,000-year-old Tunnel of the Knights Templar, which still runs under the city today.

The little village of Cafarnaum on the Sea of Galilee looks almost tiny next to these cities. However, it is in no way inferior to the big cities in terms of importance. It was the site of the feeding of the 5,000 and is home to one of the oldest synagogues in the country, which dates back to the 4th century. And this is where Jesus spent a significant part of his life. Reason enough to visit these special ruins in a hire car and immerse yourself in biblical times for a few moments.

Experience natural wonders

Beyond the borders of the towns and villages, an amazing and sometimes almost bizarre landscape begins. Israel’s nature is so different from our familiar forests and meadows that you will find the impressions here even more intense. Smell the salt in the air at the Dead Sea and discover the unusual sculptures that it forms on the shores of this salt lake. You have arrived in one of the most hostile, but also one of the most fascinating landscapes that can be discovered on this 13-day round trip through Israel, and which probably inspired the story of Sodom and Gomorrah.

When you look at this landscape of salt, water, sand and low table mountains, you might find it hard to imagine, but it is only a stone’s throw from the bubbling life of En Gedi by rental car. In the middle of the desert, life is blooming in a colourful green around the Shulamit waterfall. This is where ibex and gazelles, leopards and the inquisitive Tristram’s Starlings live.

The Bible tells us what happened at Lake Genezareth, but it fails to praise its beauty. That’s why we’re doing it. The lake lies like a deep blue gem in the sandy-yellow expanse, which is repeatedly interrupted by the green of the meadows, bushes, trees and palms. If you climb the hill where Jesus himself is said to have given the Sermon on the Mount, you will have a fantastic view of this lake panorama.

Israel: A culinary firework

Typical Israeli cuisine is usually kosher – but it can be extremely diverse due to its many roots. Here, Mediterranean cuisine mixes with Arabic, Syrian and many other influences. That is why there is no such thing as the Israeli cuisine. From hearty meat dishes and the ubiquitous hummus to light salads, the menu in Israeli restaurants can include almost anything – except pork. A good opportunity to sample different flavours and ingredients are mezze, the starters that are usually served in many small bowls.

If the hearty, meat-heavy oriental influence does not predominate, Israeli cuisine is very healthy, as it relies heavily on vegetables, pulses and fresh fruit. Dishes such as falafel, sabich or baba ganoush are typical. Meat dishes are rarer, but still varied. You can find shawarma, street food made from grilled meat, almost everywhere. What most dishes have in common is the often very aromatic seasoning with everything the oriental spice rack has to offer. So you can look forward to varied and flavourful dishes in Israel.

The authentic Israel

In Israel, culture goes through the stomach. The Mediterranean, Arabia, Africa, … The regions and their peoples have left their unmistakable traces on Israeli plates – which are not always kosher today. You can discover the full diversity of culinary traditions on a stroll through the Yehuda Market in Tel Aviv-Jaffa – or while you immerse yourself in the art of Israeli cookery and conjure up typical dishes with traditional ingredients and spices at a workshop. On this 13-day round trip through Israel, you will get equally close to the everyday life of the people today and the long history.
