Geotoura – Hotel concept
When we include a hotel in our programme, it is not only a high standard of quality that is important to us. We prefer typical local accommodation, often boutique hotels with a special ambience. They emphasise the character of an individual trip: Panoramic views, particularly lovely furnishings, a location in historic centres, no mass tourism and, of course, exceptionally friendly hosts – these are important criteria for us.
We divide our hotels into four separate Geotoura categories. Of course, you have the choice and can also combine the categories on one trip.
Boutique Hotels – Four categories
Encantador (“Charming”): Our most affordable option. Lovingly furnished rooms that offer everything the discerning traveller expects.
Especial (“Special”): Hotels with a special ambience – historic palaces, monasteries, haciendas or beach hotels with exceptional charm. Perfect for the classic cultural tour.
Extraordinario (“Extraordinary”): Luxurious hotels in excellent locations and with the highest level of comfort, often in centuries-old aristocratic palaces, old oil mills or haciendas.
Luna de Miel (“honeymoon”): For the honeymoon – span. Luna de miel – or if you want to treat yourself to something out of the ordinary …

Experience culture
Venice is the dream destination for romantic souls on this 9-day tour of north-east Italy: the Canale Grande with its historic houses, Sigh and Rialto Bridge, the elegant Dogen Palace with its magnificent rooms and countless art treasures and, of course, St Mark’s Basilica, one of the most ornate buildings in the country. But there is also the other Venice, with its small, pretty cafés with flower-decorated balconies and cosy, local shops in the tiny side streets.
In Bologna you then enter the oldest university in Europe, which was founded at the end of the 11th century. The historic buildings with their archways are a feast for the eyes even from the outside. Some of the rooms take you back to another era when you enter – such as the Anatomical Hall with its rich wooden decor. The silence of the Library, dark wood and an endless row of books and tables are somewhat reminiscent of Harry Potter’s school, as it has a very special magic about it. If you want to enjoy this unique flair twice, stop by the University of Padua, founded by Bolognese students in 1222, where Galileo Galilei, among others, taught for 18 years, on your way to Bologna. Here, the anatomical theatre, the anatomical kitchen, the Sala di Medicina and the Aula Magna take you back in time.
Breathtaking natural scenery
On your way from Venice to Bologna on this 9-day round trip through the north-east of Italy, you will pass through a scenic gem: the Parco Regionale dei Colli Euganei. Here you will find a landscape that is relatively unknown outside of Italy, with wide valleys, volcanic and sedimentary rocks, gently rising mountain slopes covered in deep greenery and streams that in some places continue as small waterfalls over rocky edges. The sedimentary rock of the park can be a treasure trove for fossil hunters, left here by a shallow sea millions of years ago. The so-called Euganean Hills are also known for their thermal springs, which feed the more than 350 thermal baths and similar facilities in and around the park.
Scenes to fall in love with can also be hiked on Lake Garda. Lace up your good shoes and discover the mountain trails, which are dotted with wonderful viewpoints of the lake. Perhaps conquer Monte Baldo or discover a small, exotic adventure in the Parco Natura Viva. Of course, Lake Garda is also a picture postcard Italy. Oleanders, cedars and cypresses characterise the panorama, as do ancient olive groves, through which numerous hiking trails run.
Northern Italy – Culinary journey
The cuisine of northern Italy is different from the rest of Italy, but just as delicious and varied. There are many influences from neighbouring countries in the dishes, so you may well find a Sacher torte on the menu. Meat dishes are braised, refined with wine and aromatic herbs or roasted. Freshwater fish from the inland lakes as well as fish and seafood are also frequently on the menu. If your tour of northern Italy takes you to Piedmont, you should try the famous Alba truffles that grow here or dip vegetables in a delicious hot dipping sauce – bagna cauda.
In Liguria and Lombardy, the culinary focus tends to be on fish and vegetables. Famous are not only the cheeses from Lombardy, such as Mascarpone, Gorgonzola, Taleggio or Grana padano, but also the pesto alla genovese.
A rich and varied cuisine, which is mainly characterised by fish and meat, will spoil you in Veneto. This is often accompanied by polenta prepared in different ways and, of course, a good drop of wine, which are plentiful in the north of Italy and will turn your trip into a culinary experience.
