Geotoura – Hotel concept
When we include a hotel in our programme, it is not only a high standard of quality that is important to us. We prefer typical local accommodation, often boutique hotels with a special ambience. They emphasise the character of an individual trip: Panoramic views, particularly lovely furnishings, a location in historic centres, no mass tourism and, of course, exceptionally friendly hosts – these are important criteria for us.
We divide our hotels into four separate Geotoura categories. Of course, you have the choice and can also combine the categories on one trip.
Boutique Hotels – Four categories
Encantador (“Charming”): Our most affordable option. Lovingly furnished rooms that offer everything the discerning traveller expects.
Especial (“Special”): Hotels with a special ambience – historic palaces, monasteries, haciendas or beach hotels with exceptional charm. Perfect for the classic cultural tour.
Extraordinario (“Extraordinary”): Luxurious hotels in excellent locations and with the highest level of comfort, often in centuries-old aristocratic palaces, old oil mills or haciendas.
Luna de Miel (“honeymoon”): For the honeymoon – span. Luna de miel – or if you want to treat yourself to something out of the ordinary …
Character of this travel idea
Experience culture
As you cross the Ponte Vecchio past the small shops, you are already standing in front of a Renaissance dream. And that doesn’t just apply to the elegant and impressive façade of the Galleria degli Uffizi. The gallery is a treasure trove of the greats. It all began here with the collection of the Medici family, who were connoisseurs of art and rich enough to collect the most exquisite works.
Marvel at Sandro Botticelli’s “Birth of Venus”, be moved by Michelangelo’s “The Holy Family” or fall in love with Titian’s “Venus in Urbino”. Here you will discover the who’s who of European artists – a journey in miniature on this 11-day round trip to the cultural highlights of Lazio and Tuscany.
Experience culture
It was all too often the beauty of the landscape of central Italy that inspired artistic souls. You can still find a piece of this postcard Italy here today – for example at Lago di Bolsena. The ancient volcanic landscape is still very pristine and fertile. This is why the almost circular lake with its fine sandy beaches is surrounded by a blossoming and green landscape.
On this 11-day round trip, you will travel by hire car to the cultural centres of Lazio and Tuscany and through the picturesque Chianti region. Between countless vineyards, you will discover charming villages and very hospitable people who will be happy to share a good drop of wine and interesting stories with you.
Tuscany Culinary delights
The cuisine of Tuscany is simple, rustic and extremely tasty. Bread, and unsalted bread at that, plays a major role here and will accompany you everywhere on your round trip through Tuscany. Fettunta or one of the many crostini variations are often served as a small greeting from the kitchen. Soups are also popular – rich ones such as ribollita or pappa al pomodoro. Vegetable soups such as carabaccia, zuppa di porri or fagioli are also extremely delicious.
Compared to the rest of Italy, the pasta dishes are rather modest. Pappardelle, for example, are delicious – wide ribbon noodles that are often eaten with meat sauces such as game, hare or even rabbit. Meat dishes are generally very popular in Tuscany. Whether boiled, roasted or braised, as bistecca or arista alla fiorentina, ossobuco, stracotto or peposo – the range of meat dishes is immense.
This also applies to vegetables, with beans and black cabbage, cavolo nero, being the frontrunners here and used in numerous dishes. Why not enjoy a picnic in the countryside? With pecorino, finocchiona, an aromatic fennel salami, cantuccini and a good bottle of Chianti or Montepulciano in the basket, this becomes a culinary experience.
