Geotoura – Hotel concept
When we include a hotel in our programme, it is not only a high standard of quality that is important to us. We prefer typical local accommodation, often boutique hotels with a special ambience. They emphasise the character of an individual trip: Panoramic views, particularly lovely furnishings, a location in historic centres, no mass tourism and, of course, exceptionally friendly hosts – these are important criteria for us.
We divide our hotels into four separate Geotoura categories. Of course, you have the choice and can also combine the categories on one trip.
Boutique Hotels – Four categories
Encantador (“Charming”): Our most affordable option. Lovingly furnished rooms that offer everything the discerning traveller expects.
Especial (“Special”): Hotels with a special ambience – historic palaces, monasteries, haciendas or beach hotels with exceptional charm. Perfect for the classic cultural tour.
Extraordinario (“Extraordinary”): Luxurious hotels in excellent locations and with the highest level of comfort, often in centuries-old aristocratic palaces, old oil mills or haciendas.
Luna de Miel (“honeymoon”): For the honeymoon – span. Luna de miel – or if you want to treat yourself to something out of the ordinary …
Character of this travel idea
Experience culture
Rome is the cultural heart of this individual 13-day tour of Italy. Here you will marvel at the mighty ruins of the Colosseum, be fascinated by the fascinating architecture of its palazzi and take a break at the famous Trevi Fountain.
In the Sistine Chapel, which is almost simple for this city, you will discover one of the most famous works of art in the world: Michelangelo’s unique frescoes. You only have to turn around in the church to discover the unmistakable hand of Botticelli, Roselli and Signorelli. There is at least as much to admire in this chapel as in St Peter’s Basilica with its dome, which still makes it an outstanding work of its time. You could almost lose yourself among the 778 columns and looking at the 395 statues that adorn the cathedral, along with many other details.
Experience nature
Winding roads lined with cypress trees through rolling hills and endless vineyards … In a hire car, you will finally arrive in Chianti an Italian paradise. Once characterised by wild forests, today you will find one of the most beautiful cultural landscapes in the world.
Whether you explore them on foot or prefer to hop on your bike is up to you. Take a detour into an almost otherworldly landscape at Saturnia. Here, the warm, turquoise-blue water cascades down the slope and conjures up a bathing landscape in its pools between the steps that could belong to the gods.
Rome and surroundings – simply delicious
The cuisine of Rome and Lazio is plain and simple, but extremely flavoursome. As in almost all parts of Italy, Lazio also produces cheese, including Mozzarella di Bufala Campana, Pecorino di Piciniso and Pecorino Romano. There is also no shortage of pasta dishes here. You shouldn’t miss out on Rome’s most famous pasta dish, spaghetti alla carbonara, or spaghetti cacio e pepe, an extremely tasty dish with cheese and pepper. The gnocchi alla romana are made from durum wheat semolina and are baked in the oven with a sprinkling of cheese.
Artichokes are also an integral part of Roman cuisine – whether steamed, grilled, deep-fried or as pasta ai carciofi, they are always a delight. With pollo, saltimbocca or abbacchio alla romana, meat lovers will also get their money’s worth. Supplì, rice croquettes deep-fried with ragù and mozzarella that are reminiscent of Sicilian arancini, are ideal for snacks in between meals. Also very tasty: deep-fried courgette flowers, the tender-crispy fiori di zucca fritti. Of course, a good meal around Rome also needs a good wine, and in Lazio this is primarily produced as a white wine. Typical wines of the region are Frascati from the Castelli Romani, Orvieto and Est!Est!!!Est!!! from Montefiascone.
