Northern Italy 2024 & 2025
Travelling to northern Italy always takes me back to an exciting spirit of discovery and artistic and architectural masterpieces. Here, the Renaissance lives on in its magnificent buildings as well as in the small details of the towns and villages. I feel particularly close to this period in Venice with its Dogen Palace and other wonderful city palaces, bridges and churches from this era. My palate is also delighted when I travel through the picturesque landscapes with green hills and slender cypress trees and discover one or two family recipes from the great cuisine in northern Italy. And sometimes it’s just nice to sit down in one of the charming cafés and enjoy the art of Italian coffee and the view of the street or the typical Italian-Mediterranean landscape over an espresso. It’s a slice of Dolce Vita that is sure to make you fall in love with the north of Italy on your round trip.
By the way: your journey begins at home. Depending on where you are departing from, we will also plan and organise the route and your accommodation in the transit countries up to your destination.”

Discover Northern Italy
Northern Italy – Treasure hunt
Like the rest of the country, the north is covered in numerous works of art and buildings from different eras. Discover important Gothic buildings such as Milan Cathedral or Como Cathedral, the Palazzo della Ragione in Bergamo, Genoa Cathedral or the Doge’s Palace in Venice on our round trips through northern Italy. In Venice you will encounter the most beautiful side of the Italian Renaissance with the church Il Redentore, the Rialto Bridge, Palazzo Grimani and many other buildings and palaces.
Or perhaps you would like to explore Milan, Merano and Turin, the Italian capital of Art Nouveau, in search of the playful, floral ornaments and decorative curved lines of Art Nouveau. They adorn numerous buildings, fountains and interiors of historic cafés such as the Caffè Baratti e Milano or the Caffè Mulassano. Whether museums, exhibitions, events, … there is never a shortage of cultural programmes in northern Italy.
Northern Italy's diverse landscapes
Let yourself be surprised by the variety of landscapes on our round trips through northern Italy and enjoy the beautiful, often kilometre-long sandy beaches and lakes such as Lake Como, Lake Garda or Lake Maggiore between the Adriatic and the Mediterranean. The latter even surprises its visitors with Mediterranean gardens, palm trees and lemon trees.
Visit the unique Lagoon Landscape of Veneto with its numerous rivers and canals and fall in love with the picturesque hilly landscape of Piedmont.
Would you like to hike, see the world from above and enjoy marvellous views? Then you should definitely get your hiking boots out in the Gran Paradiso National Park. You will find routes and hikes of varying degrees of difficulty in the Aosta Valley. You can then easily reward yourself for your efforts with culinary specialities, of which there are plenty here.
Northern Italy – Culinary journey
The cuisine of northern Italy is different from the rest of Italy, but just as delicious and varied. There are many influences from neighbouring countries in the dishes, so you may well find a Sacher torte on the menu. Meat dishes are braised, refined with wine and aromatic herbs or roasted. Freshwater fish from the inland lakes as well as fish and seafood are also frequently on the menu. If your tour of northern Italy takes you to Piedmont, you should try the famous Alba truffles that grow here or dip vegetables in a delicious hot dipping sauce – bagna cauda.
In Liguria and Lombardy, the culinary focus tends to be on fish and vegetables. Famous are not only the cheeses from Lombardy, such as Mascarpone, Gorgonzola, Taleggio or Grana padano, but also the pesto alla genovese.
A rich and varied cuisine, which is mainly characterised by fish and meat, will spoil you in Veneto. This is often accompanied by polenta prepared in different ways and, of course, a good drop of wine, which are plentiful in the north of Italy and will turn your trip into a culinary experience.
Experience Northern Italy – authentically
Of course, you can also book guided tours of the most famous cities and culturally significant sites during your trip through northern Italy – and there are plenty of those. But would you also like to get to know and understand the country and its people better and take a look behind the scenes? Then you have the opportunity to do so by preparing a pesto alla genovese in Genoa or a delicious tiramisu, the origin of which is still disputed today.
Or have you always wanted to learn more about the excellent wines of Piedmont and taste them too? Then you will learn all about the specialities of these fantastic wines on a guided tour. Enjoyment is the name of the game on this trip, and it is guaranteed!
