Geotoura – Hotel concept
When we include a hotel in our programme, it is not only a high standard of quality that is important to us. We prefer typical local accommodation, often boutique hotels with a special ambience. They emphasise the character of an individual trip: Panoramic views, particularly lovely furnishings, a location in historic centres, no mass tourism and, of course, exceptionally friendly hosts – these are important criteria for us.
We divide our hotels into four separate Geotoura categories. Of course, you have the choice and can also combine the categories on one trip.
Boutique Hotels – Four categories
Encantador (“Charming”): Our most affordable option. Lovingly furnished rooms that offer everything the discerning traveller expects.
Especial (“Special”): Hotels with a special ambience – historic palaces, monasteries, haciendas or beach hotels with exceptional charm. Perfect for the classic cultural tour.
Extraordinario (“Extraordinary”): Luxurious hotels in excellent locations and with the highest level of comfort, often in centuries-old aristocratic palaces, old oil mills or haciendas.
Luna de Miel (“honeymoon”): For the honeymoon – span. Luna de miel – or if you want to treat yourself to something out of the ordinary …
Character of this travel idea
Experience culture
Actually, Milan is world-famous as a fashion metropolis. What is less well known is that the city is also a paradise for museum-goers. Discover the artists of the 15th to 18th centuries in the Castello Sforzesco, browse through natural history in the Natural History Museum and discover exciting constructions in the National Museum of Science and Technology “Leonardo da Vinci”, which is the largest technology museum in Italy at 25,000 square metres.
Afterwards, you will arrive in the beautiful Renaissance metropolises on your 15-day round trip through Toskana . In Lucca, follow in the footsteps of Giacomo Puccini through the cobbled streets and around the historic houses. Marvel under the dome of Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence before exploring the city’s palazzi and getting up close and personal with the greatest artists of the Renaissance in the Uffizi Gallery.
Once you arrive in Venice, swap your car for a gondola and let yourself drift through the marvellous lagoon city in the truest sense of the word.
Experience nature
If you drive out of the large metropolises, you will land straight in picture-book Italy: slender cypresses, fragrant pine trees, traditional villages and dreamy vineyards characterise the landscape of the Tuscany .
This typical landscape can be found in the Val di Chiana, where you can hike through endless vineyards, orchards and olive groves. It’s hard to believe that Dante Alighieri once described this valley as a plague swamp. Today, white Chianina cattle graze here, providing the meat for the famous Bistecca fiorentina. The wine for this steak also often comes from the region.
Tuscany Culinary delights
The cuisine of Tuscany is simple, rustic and extremely tasty. Bread, and unsalted bread at that, plays a major role here and will accompany you everywhere on your round trip through Tuscany. Fettunta or one of the many crostini variations are often served as a small greeting from the kitchen. Soups are also popular – rich ones such as ribollita or pappa al pomodoro. Vegetable soups such as carabaccia, zuppa di porri or fagioli are also extremely delicious.
Compared to the rest of Italy, the pasta dishes are rather modest. Pappardelle, for example, are delicious – wide ribbon noodles that are often eaten with meat sauces such as game, hare or even rabbit. Meat dishes are generally very popular in Tuscany. Whether boiled, roasted or braised, as bistecca or arista alla fiorentina, ossobuco, stracotto or peposo – the range of meat dishes is immense.
This also applies to vegetables, with beans and black cabbage, cavolo nero, being the frontrunners here and used in numerous dishes. Why not enjoy a picnic in the countryside? With pecorino, finocchiona, an aromatic fennel salami, cantuccini and a good bottle of Chianti or Montepulciano in the basket, this becomes a culinary experience.
