Geotoura – Hotel concept
When we include a hotel in our programme, it is not only a high standard of quality that is important to us. We prefer typical local accommodation, often boutique hotels with a special ambience. They emphasise the character of an individual trip: Panoramic views, particularly lovely furnishings, a location in historic centres, no mass tourism and, of course, exceptionally friendly hosts – these are important criteria for us.
We divide our hotels into four separate Geotoura categories. Of course, you have the choice and can also combine the categories on one trip.
Boutique Hotels – Four categories
Encantador (“Charming”): Our most affordable option. Lovingly furnished rooms that offer everything the discerning traveller expects.
Especial (“Special”): Hotels with a special ambience – historic palaces, monasteries, haciendas or beach hotels with exceptional charm. Perfect for the classic cultural tour.
Extraordinario (“Extraordinary”): Luxurious hotels in excellent locations and with the highest level of comfort, often in centuries-old aristocratic palaces, old oil mills or haciendas.
Luna de Miel (“honeymoon”): For the honeymoon – span. Luna de miel – or if you want to treat yourself to something out of the ordinary …
Character of this travel idea
Experience culture
On this 12-day round trip through Croatia and Montenegro, you will stand on the city walls of Dubrovnik, where the lords of the city once watched over them – and where many a scene from the cult series “Game of Thrones” was shot. In addition to such world-famous highlights, you will also discover the little stories of the historic cities.
Leave your hire car on the outskirts of Ulcinj and embark on your own personal pirate adventure at Slave Square. You will also meet a great man here. Miguel de Cervantes, the author of Don Quixote, is said to have landed here as a prisoner.
The citadel of Budva also hides a story. Look closely at the old stones. Then you will discover the relief of two fish and with them the anecdote of two unhappy lovers who fell to their deaths here.
Experience nature
A lonely, wild landscape spreads out around the glassy Biogradska Jezero, which bathes in ever-changing colours throughout the year: delicate green and colourful in spring, lush green and thousands of flowers in summer, a firework of yellow, red and brown in autumn. On your way through the almost untouched wilderness, you will encounter more than 2,000 different plants, some of which are very rare, as well as animals that are otherwise rare in Europe – including the king of the forest, the brown bear.
This 12-day round trip through Croatia and Montenegro takes you to the shores of the largest lake in the Balkans, Lake Skadar. Lake Skadar lies majestically between green mountain slopes. Visit the winegrowers on its shores and learn more about the wine terraces, or discover the old ruins of the historic monasteries that appear here and there in the middle of nature and on the islands of the lake.
Montenegro - unadulteratedly delicious
Not only the landscape of Montenegro is rich in contrasts, but also its cuisine. Freshly caught fish and seafood, smoked carp or bleak from Lake Skadar and gratinated eel make the hearts of fish lovers beat faster.
Do you prefer meat? Then how about air-dried ham or sausage from Njeguši? Or maybe you prefer lamb or goat meat boiled in milk and cooked under the bell, which is also roasted under the bell together with potatoes. These typical dishes can be found on almost all Montenegrin menus. The country’s cheese specialities are also delicious, such as the cheese from Njeguši, the cheese from Pljevlja, which has been awarded a quality label, leaf cheese or the kajmak produced in the north.
High-quality olive oils, honey, morels, dried apricots, figs and the popular cornelian cherry are other ingredients that flavour dishes, desserts and juices. A good meal also needs a good drop of wine. A particularly good wine is the white Krstač, the Vranac or Čubrica, which is aged for years in wooden barrels. Let your palate be spoilt by the regional finesse.
