Geotoura – Hotel concept
When we include a hotel in our programme, it is not only a high standard of quality that is important to us. We prefer typical local accommodation, often boutique hotels with a special ambience. They emphasise the character of an individual trip: Panoramic views, particularly lovely furnishings, a location in historic centres, no mass tourism and, of course, exceptionally friendly hosts – these are important criteria for us.
We divide our hotels into four separate Geotoura categories. Of course, you have the choice and can also combine the categories on one trip.
Boutique Hotels – Four categories
Encantador (“Charming”): Our most affordable option. Lovingly furnished rooms that offer everything the discerning traveller expects.
Especial (“Special”): Hotels with a special ambience – historic palaces, monasteries, haciendas or beach hotels with exceptional charm. Perfect for the classic cultural tour.
Extraordinario (“Extraordinary”): Luxurious hotels in excellent locations and with the highest level of comfort, often in centuries-old aristocratic palaces, old oil mills or haciendas.
Luna de Miel (“honeymoon”): For the honeymoon – span. Luna de miel – or if you want to treat yourself to something out of the ordinary …
Character of this travel idea
Experience culture
Ulcinj is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Montenegro that is under threat. The oriental flair of the Ottomans still wafts through the streets here. The konobas exude the aroma of Turkish coffee and the region’s aromatic cuisine. The contrast to this small, winding city is the expanse of the Placa Stradun in Dubrovnik.
On your individual 14-day tour of the Adriatic coast of Croatia and Montenegro, an elegant ensemble delights visitors here. From the Sponza Palace and the Rector’s Palace to the Old Customs House and the Roland Column, the square is imbued with the spirit of a historic metropolis. As if time had been turned back centuries, you will be transported into a dream world as you watch the square from the cosy chairs of one of the many cafés.
Experience nature
Nature has reached deep into its colour box at the Bay of Kotor: turquoise sea, gleaming white facades and sand-coloured roofs of the small villages, the strong green of olives, cypresses, junipers and palms and the grey of the karst mountains in the background. From here, you can walk to one of the small harbours, climb aboard one of the boats bobbing on the water and visit the curious dolphins.
You can reach another paradise by rental car on this individual round trip in Croatia on Lokrum. The subtropical island paradise is home to laurel trees, palm trees, magnolias and even cacti, which characterise the landscape. Not native, but a real treasure is the botanical garden, which Maximilian von Habsburg created on the island in 1858.
Take a little time to discover the more than 800 exotic plant species that call this garden home on this 14-day round trip along the coast of Croatia and Montenegro.
Croatia culinary treasures
No question: Croatian cuisine is meat-heavy and not very delicate. Rustic, traditional recipes still characterise the everyday lives of many families and restaurant menus. Meat, vegetables, potatoes, olive oil and herbs are on the menu. Only on the coast are fish and seafood common. Sounds a bit too simple? But it tastes great.
Croatians particularly love dishes from the peka: the ingredients simmer for several hours in this cast-iron pot. Take a look at the lid and let yourself be seduced by the aroma – and the butter-tender meat.
