Geotoura – Hotel concept
When we include a hotel in our programme, it is not only a high standard of quality that is important to us. We prefer typical local accommodation, often boutique hotels with a special ambience. They emphasise the character of an individual trip: Panoramic views, particularly lovely furnishings, a location in historic centres, no mass tourism and, of course, exceptionally friendly hosts – these are important criteria for us.
We divide our hotels into four separate Geotoura categories. Of course, you have the choice and can also combine the categories on one trip.
Boutique Hotels – Four categories
Encantador (“Charming”): Our most affordable option. Lovingly furnished rooms that offer everything the discerning traveller expects.
Especial (“Special”): Hotels with a special ambience – historic palaces, monasteries, haciendas or beach hotels with exceptional charm. Perfect for the classic cultural tour.
Extraordinario (“Extraordinary”): Luxurious hotels in excellent locations and with the highest level of comfort, often in centuries-old aristocratic palaces, old oil mills or haciendas.
Luna de Miel (“honeymoon”): For the honeymoon – span. Luna de miel – or if you want to treat yourself to something out of the ordinary …
Character of this travel idea
Experience culture
Podgorica is a lively metropolis. But even here you will discover places where time seems to have stood still. One of them is on Gorica Hill – a tiny, rather simple little church: Sveti Đorđe. Built around the year 1000, the small church is one of the oldest buildings in the city. When you step inside, you are greeted by artistic frescoes from the 17th century. Duklija, the ancient city that flourished long before Podgorica and now lies just outside the city gates, is also lost in time.
The meadows have since conquered the ancient city. However, the ground plans, columns, stonemasonry and inscriptions still tell of life at the turn of the century, when the ancient Romans were in charge here.
Experience nature
Montenegro’s national parks are the perfect opportunity to get away from it all. Enter the wild realm of bears and wolves, majestic eagles and giant vultures in Durmitor National Park. In this landscape, you will wander through a Europe as it may have looked everywhere before the arrival of man.
Here in the silence at the end of the world yawns the gigantic Tara Gorge in the Durmitor massif. The gorge is up to 1,600 metres deep. So it’s no wonder that goose bumps creep down your spine when you look down from the bridge to the river.
Montenegro - unadulteratedly delicious
Not only the landscape of Montenegro is rich in contrasts, but also its cuisine. Freshly caught fish and seafood, smoked carp or bleak from Lake Skadar and gratinated eel make the hearts of fish lovers beat faster.
Do you prefer meat? Then how about air-dried ham or sausage from Njeguši? Or maybe you prefer lamb or goat meat boiled in milk and cooked under the bell, which is also roasted under the bell together with potatoes. These typical dishes can be found on almost all Montenegrin menus. The country’s cheese specialities are also delicious, such as the cheese from Njeguši, the cheese from Pljevlja, which has been awarded a quality label, leaf cheese or the kajmak produced in the north.
High-quality olive oils, honey, morels, dried apricots, figs and the popular cornelian cherry are other ingredients that flavour dishes, desserts and juices. A good meal also needs a good drop of wine. A particularly good wine is the white Krstač, the Vranac or Čubrica, which is aged for years in wooden barrels. Let your palate be spoilt by the regional finesse.
