Geotoura – Hotel concept
When we include a hotel in our programme, it is not only a high standard of quality that is important to us. We prefer typical local accommodation, often boutique hotels with a special ambience. They emphasise the character of an individual trip: Panoramic views, particularly lovely furnishings, a location in historic centres, no mass tourism and, of course, exceptionally friendly hosts – these are important criteria for us.
We divide our hotels into four separate Geotoura categories. Of course, you have the choice and can also combine the categories on one trip.
Boutique Hotels – Four categories
Encantador (“Charming”): Our most affordable option. Lovingly furnished rooms that offer everything the discerning traveller expects.
Especial (“Special”): Hotels with a special ambience – historic palaces, monasteries, haciendas or beach hotels with exceptional charm. Perfect for the classic cultural tour.
Extraordinario (“Extraordinary”): Luxurious hotels in excellent locations and with the highest level of comfort, often in centuries-old aristocratic palaces, old oil mills or haciendas.
Luna de Miel (“honeymoon”): For the honeymoon – span. Luna de miel – or if you want to treat yourself to something out of the ordinary …
Character of this travel idea
Experience culture
Italy’s Renaissance is world-famous. In Apulia, however, you can stroll through another, equally splendid era: the Baroque of Lecce. Built with the soft, easy-to-work tuff of the region, opulently decorated buildings with countless details were created. You will discover these as you stroll from the ancient amphitheatre in Piazza Sant’Oronzo to Piazza Duomo with the imposing cathedral, the Palazzo del Seminario and the Episcopate, whose lavish decorations are probably one of the most beautiful examples of Lecce’s Baroque style.
On this 21-day round trip through Croatia, Montenegro and Apulia, however, this is just one of the cultural highlights. Revel in the backdrop of the Dubrovnik fortress, discover the patrician palaces of Kotor and fall in love with the baroque-oriental mix of styles in Herceg Novi. Each stop will entice you to get to know, observe and immerse yourself in the ties of history that bind so many of the places.
Experience nature
The Bay of Kotor, with its mighty mountain slopes clinging to the small, ancient villages, is a fascinating and endangered natural spectacle. Every day, earthquakes could change the face of this picturesque bay forever.
The clear mirror of Lake Scutari, on the other hand, lies in the picturesque mountain landscape as if made for eternity. Close your eyes and take a deep breath of the wonderful tranquillity of this place – before you set off on this individual round trip through Croatia, Montenegro and Apulia into the rolling hills with green meadows and sun-yellow wheat fields, which fade into impressive cliffs and wide sandy beaches by the sea.
As different as these landscapes are, each has its very own charm and entices many a visitor to return after this individual journey.
Montenegro - unadulteratedly delicious
Not only the landscape of Montenegro is rich in contrasts, but also its cuisine. Freshly caught fish and seafood, smoked carp or bleak from Lake Skadar and gratinated eel make the hearts of fish lovers beat faster.
Do you prefer meat? Then how about air-dried ham or sausage from Njeguši? Or maybe you prefer lamb or goat meat boiled in milk and cooked under the bell, which is also roasted under the bell together with potatoes. These typical dishes can be found on almost all Montenegrin menus. The country’s cheese specialities are also delicious, such as the cheese from Njeguši, the cheese from Pljevlja, which has been awarded a quality label, leaf cheese or the kajmak produced in the north.
High-quality olive oils, honey, morels, dried apricots, figs and the popular cornelian cherry are other ingredients that flavour dishes, desserts and juices. A good meal also needs a good drop of wine. A particularly good wine is the white Krstač, the Vranac or Čubrica, which is aged for years in wooden barrels. Let your palate be spoilt by the regional finesse.
The authentic Montenegro
Immerse yourself once again in the overwhelming natural scenery of Lake Scutari – but this time with a change of perspective. Settle down in the middle of the nature of its national park and watch the birds. Paddle across the lake by boat or hop on your bike for a tour. Each of these perspectives will show you a different, wonderful side of this almost unspoilt region.
