Geotoura – Hotel concept
When we include a hotel in our programme, it is not only a high standard of quality that is important to us. We prefer typical local accommodation, often boutique hotels with a special ambience. They emphasise the character of an individual trip: Panoramic views, particularly lovely furnishings, a location in historic centres, no mass tourism and, of course, exceptionally friendly hosts – these are important criteria for us.
We divide our hotels into four separate Geotoura categories. Of course, you have the choice and can also combine the categories on one trip.
Boutique Hotels – Four categories
Encantador (“Charming”): Our most affordable option. Lovingly furnished rooms that offer everything the discerning traveller expects.
Especial (“Special”): Hotels with a special ambience – historic palaces, monasteries, haciendas or beach hotels with exceptional charm. Perfect for the classic cultural tour.
Extraordinario (“Extraordinary”): Luxurious hotels in excellent locations and with the highest level of comfort, often in centuries-old aristocratic palaces, old oil mills or haciendas.
Luna de Miel (“honeymoon”): For the honeymoon – span. Luna de miel – or if you want to treat yourself to something out of the ordinary …
Character of this travel idea
Experience Culture
The narrow, cobbled streets of Kotor’s old town centre are untouched by cars. They are far too narrow for any traffic. It is therefore best to park your hire car on the outskirts of the city and immerse yourself in the labyrinth, where you will discover the beautiful cathedral of St. Tripuna and the small church of St. Luka, among other things.
Things get livelier in Podgorica on this individual 15-day round trip through Italy and Montenegro. The Montenegrin capital attracts visitors with its numerous museums and galleries. One of the most fascinating buildings here, however, is the Saborni Hram Hristovog Vaskrsenja, the Cathedral of the Resurrection, whose lighting sometimes makes it appear almost unearthly in the evening.
In Matera, you will end up at churches – and homes – of a completely different kind: caves carved into the rock have long served as places of worship and homes and some of them are still in use today.
Experience nature
Lake Scutari will enchant you with its wild, unspoilt landscape. Discover ancient churches on its islands, fine sand on its beaches and the picturesque forests of Montenegro beyond. In a hire car, you will end up out here in one of Montenegro’s true paradises.
This 15-day round trip through Italy and Montenegro takes you to another paradise in Otranto, Italy. Rugged cliffs, bizarre rock formations and a turquoise blue sea invite you to hop on a boat and get up close and personal with the elemental forces of Mother Nature – and discover a breathtakingly beautiful landscape in the process.
Montenegro - unadulteratedly delicious
Not only the landscape of Montenegro is rich in contrasts, but also its cuisine. Freshly caught fish and seafood, smoked carp or bleak from Lake Skadar and gratinated eel make the hearts of fish lovers beat faster.
Do you prefer meat? Then how about air-dried ham or sausage from Njeguši? Or maybe you prefer lamb or goat meat boiled in milk and cooked under the bell, which is also roasted under the bell together with potatoes. These typical dishes can be found on almost all Montenegrin menus. The country’s cheese specialities are also delicious, such as the cheese from Njeguši, the cheese from Pljevlja, which has been awarded a quality label, leaf cheese or the kajmak produced in the north.
High-quality olive oils, honey, morels, dried apricots, figs and the popular cornelian cherry are other ingredients that flavour dishes, desserts and juices. A good meal also needs a good drop of wine. A particularly good wine is the white Krstač, the Vranac or Čubrica, which is aged for years in wooden barrels. Let your palate be spoilt by the regional finesse.
