Geotoura – Hotel concept
When we include a hotel in our programme, it is not only a high standard of quality that is important to us. We prefer typical local accommodation, often boutique hotels with a special ambience. They emphasise the character of an individual trip: Panoramic views, particularly lovely furnishings, a location in historic centres, no mass tourism and, of course, exceptionally friendly hosts – these are important criteria for us.
We divide our hotels into four separate Geotoura categories. Of course, you have the choice and can also combine the categories on one trip.
Boutique Hotels – Four categories
Encantador (“Charming”): Our most affordable option. Lovingly furnished rooms that offer everything the discerning traveller expects.
Especial (“Special”): Hotels with a special ambience – historic palaces, monasteries, haciendas or beach hotels with exceptional charm. Perfect for the classic cultural tour.
Extraordinario (“Extraordinary”): Luxurious hotels in excellent locations and with the highest level of comfort, often in centuries-old aristocratic palaces, old oil mills or haciendas.
Luna de Miel (“honeymoon”): For the honeymoon – span. Luna de miel – or if you want to treat yourself to something out of the ordinary …
Character of this travel idea
Experience culture
If you love Art Nouveau, a stroll through Barcelona will be a visual treat for you. Entire buildings in this elegant style, as well as countless small details from paintings to door handles, are reminiscent of the great era of floral art. And one man is inextricably linked with Modernisme in Barcelona: Antoni Gaudí.
Its filigree Sagrada Familia is of course world-famous. On your way through the city, however, you will encounter the master in many other places in the form of buildings, mosaics, sculptures, furniture and other magnificent works of art.
Revel in Gaudí’s world on this 10-day tour of Catalonia in Park Güell, Palau Güell, Casa Battló, Casa Milá, Torre de Bellesguard and many other corners of the city that he left his unmistakable mark on.
Experience nature
Take the hire car out of Sant Pere Pescador to Cap de Creus, the easternmost point of Spain. This shines with a barren yet marvellous landscape, which is shaped by bizarre rock formations, among other things.
It is precisely these formations that have inspired even Salvador Dalí. Here at the end of the (Spanish) world, you will encounter rare plants and exciting geological phenomena on land before the rough, bare rocks sink into the foaming sea. Under water, you will dive into the realm of corals, between which lives a world of its own.
Spanish east coast from fire and sea
You will certainly be familiar with one dish that originated on the east coast of Spain: paella. Valencia is the home of this dish made from fish, meat, seafood, rice and vegetables. Like all good things from the sea, it is known as Paella Valenciana on the menus of more than just its home city. Fideuà is quite similar to paella, but is made with vermicelli. It may be less well-known, but it is at least as delicious.
Arroz negro, black rice coloured with squid ink, is also a real treat. Do you prefer vegetarian food? Then your choice on Spain’s east coast is surprisingly large. Treat yourself to the simple but aromatic flavour of pa amb tomàquet, the Catalan tomato bread. Try the escalivada, a salad of grilled vegetables, or go hearty with the bullit, a rich stew with potatoes, vegetables and beans. No matter what is being cooked, the locals prefer to use their olive oil as fat for all savoury dishes. For dessert, you should treat yourself at least once to a real sin, the crema catalana. Horchata, an ice-cold milk made from tiger nuts, is somewhat lighter and a favourite refreshment.
