Apulia 2024 & 2025
“I am fascinated by the vibrant colours of Apulia: the deep blue of the sea, the warm ochre of the sandstone of its baroque palaces, the bright white of the trulli, the traditional houses, and the endless green sea of olive groves. Some of the trees are up to 800 years old – this particularly touches me and shows me how long this cultural landscape has been shaped by human hands.
Share this wonderful experience with me. The best way to do this is with a hire car or your own car. Simply stop wherever you discover an interesting place, a special building or an extraordinary landscape. Make your way to a traditional, rugged and playful piece of Italy and experience a good portion of the Mediterranean lifestyle.
By the way: your journey begins at home. Depending on where you are departing from, we will also plan and organise the route and your accommodation in the transit countries up to your destination.”

Discover Apulia
Apulia – cultural diversity
Apulia, the heel of Italy’s boot, holds precious art treasures and architectural masterpieces in the historic centres of the towns and even the smallest villages – traces of numerous foreign dominations and cultural influences. These are also evident in the festivals and customs of religious or pagan origin that Apulia has preserved.
On our Apulia tours, you will of course get to know Alberobello – the capital of the trulli – as well as Matera with its rock churches and cave dwellings, the Sassi. And of course, the enigmatic Castel del Monte, commissioned by the Hohenstaufen Emperor Friedrich II, and the Baroque city of Lecce are also part of the programme.
You can also discover the dolmens and menhirs in the Itria Valley, experience traditional handicrafts such as handmade lace in the Gargano region, the centuries-old papier-mâché art in Lecce or let yourself be carried away by the ecstatic rhythms at a performance of the famous folk dance Pizzica.
Experience Apulia's nature
On our Apulia tours, you are always close to the sea – or the seas – due to the elongated shape of the peninsula. At the tip of the heel, Santa Maria di Leuca is located where the Adriatic meets the Ionian Sea. The more than 800 km of coastline is dotted with beaches, grottos and rocky coves with steep cliffs that are just waiting to be explored.
With a few exceptions, such as the Gargano Mountains in the north and the Murge limestone plateau in the centre, the landscape of Apulia is rather flat and characterised by gentle hills. The fertile, red soil not only allows olive trees, grapes and almonds to flourish and thus provides rich harvests, but also offers beautiful photo opportunities due to the colour contrasts.
Apulia - Mediterranean delight
Diversity can also be found in the regional cuisine of Apulia. Freshly caught fish and seafood can of course be found on almost all menus, while meat dishes dominate inland. However, there are also numerous dishes with fresh vegetables such as tomatoes, fennel, broccoli or cime di rapa, the slightly bitter-tasting stem cabbage.
In the narrow streets of Bari, you can look over the shoulders of the women working here on your tour of Puglia and see how orecchiette, the little ear-shaped pasta, is made in front of their own front door. What baguettes are to the French, taralli are to the Pugliese – baked dough curls that are served almost everywhere for dinner.
As in the rest of Italy, cheese is also made in Apulia. Whether it’s canestrato, cacioricotta, straciatella, which is similar to mozzarella, or burrata… Leave it up to your palate to decide and also which wine it likes best with it.
Special experiences in Apulia
Of course, you can also book guided tours through the most famous cities and culturally significant sites on our Apulia tours. In addition, we want you to get to know and understand the country and its people better. That is why we have selected experiences for our guests that allow them to look behind the scenes.
Culinary experiences and tastings give you an insight into the specialities of Apulian cuisine, in which high-quality and regional products are used. For example, conjure up an original Apulian pasta under the expert guidance of the chef and then enjoy it in a typical regional 3-course menu.
Don’t want to drive yourself for once? Then get to know and love Lecce on a rickshaw ride, where the driver will tell you all about the sights and special features.
